The complexity of design and number of shirts greatly affect the cost of your t-shirt. When planning in your mind's eye, consider that designs on dark shirts will most likely cost more than light shirts. Multiple colors and numerous placements on the shirt can also drive costs up. A good rule of thumb: Small event, simple design.

Embroidered Gear
If you are looking for a very professional look, consider an embroidered design on your clothing. Embroidery automatically increases the perceived value of a garment. Add embroidery to caps, polo shirts, oxford button-downs, bags, and just about anything else you can stick a needle through. Embroidery costs are incurred in two areas: First, digitizing the logo, a one-time cost to convert artwork to a digital file the embroidery machine uses, and second, stitching cost, the price per garment each time you order. Embroidery is a cost effective solution because once you have a digitized logo, you can easliy embroider the design onto small or large quantities and different styles of garments.
